VINCENZO BALZANI piano He graduated with first class honours from “Verdi” conservatory of music in Milan while studying with Alberto Mozzati. Aged 14 he won the La Spezia (E.N.A.L.) and the “Förster - Ricordi” national piano competitions. Two years later he was awarded the “Liszt” prize at “Maria Canals” competition in Barcelona. In 1971 he was top prize winner in many famous competitions as: “Pozzoli” in Seregno, “Città di Treviso”, “F. P. Neglia” in Enna and “G.B. Viotti” in Vercelli. In 1975 he successfully represented RAI at the Maurice Ravel competition in Paris organized to commemorate 100 years since the birth of the French composer. As concert artist he has performed as recitalist, soloist with orchestra, member of chamber ensemble (from duet to septet) all over the world including the most prestigious Italian theatres and festivals (La Scala, San Carlo, Petruzzelli, Regio in Turin, Olimpico in Rome, Bergamo and Brescia Festival, Festival dei Due Mondi, Settembre Musica, etc.). He has recorded extensively for Radio and TV and has recorded several LPs and CDs including works by Scarlatti, Mozart, Hummel, Beethoven, Chopin (the complete etudes Op.10 and Op.25), Rossini - Liszt, Schubert - Liszt, etc. Since 1973 he has been teaching piano in music academies: he is currently Professor of piano at “Verdi” conservatory of music in Milan. He often serves as judge for many international competitions (“G.B. Viotti”, “Rina Sala Gallo”, “Pozzoli”, “London International Piano Competition”, “Concurso Internacional Compositores de España”, “Tchaikovsky junior” in Kurashiki, “Takamatsu”, “Parnassos” in Monterrey, “Hummel” in Bratislava, etc.) and also holds courses, master classes and lectures in Italy and abroad. In addition to his activities as pianist and teacher he is also artistic director of “Valsesia Musica” and “Città di Cantù” international competitions and of “Monterosa - Kawai” and “Pianotalents” juniores contests as well. He has been nominated as artistic committee member of “Pozzoli” piano competition since 2010. Since 2009 he has also been artistic director of “Pianofriends” association which he founded in Milan to organize festivals, concerts, stages and seminars.

 

GABRIELE GALLOTTA flute He graduated with first class honours from “Verdi” conservatory of music in Milan in 1969 while studying with Bruno Martinotti. Then he has been member of the Milan Angelicum Chamber Orchestra. As first flute of the “Gasparo da Salò” Orchestra of Brescia he toured through Europe and USA as well. As member of “Divertimento Ensemble” Chamber Orchestra he performed widely in Europe and in the most prestigious Italian concert halls. In 1971 he became first flute of the Milan RAI Symphony Orchestra and since 1973 he has been teacher of flute at “Verdi” conservatory of music in Milan. Since the early eighties he has held courses and international master classes in Lanciano (Estate Musicale Frentana), Milan (Centro Asteria) and Rome (Arts Academy). Since 1981 he has been collaborating with Suvini e Zerboni publishing house. Ducale, Rusty Records and Fonit Cetra labels have issued his CDs.

 

CATIA IGLESIAS piano She graduated from “Nicolini” conservatory of music in Piacenza while studying with Giorgio Radicula. Later she studied with Vincenzo Balzani. She has attended Gravedona Piano Masters and the master classes held in Varallo by Maria Golia, Shuku Iwasaki and Vincenzo Balzani. She has performed in Romania with the “Mihail Jora” Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Ovidiu Balan and, as soloist of the same orchestra, has played Mozart’s and Mendelssohn’s concertos for two pianos in Pavia and in Milan. In 1994 and 2001 she was among the soloists performing the complete Bach’s keyboard concertos at the conservatory of music in Milan conducted by Julius Kalmar and Francesco Borali respectively. In 2009 she collaborated with “Accademia Pierlombardo” to organize Varallo “Cittadelladanza” Dance Campus with Luciana Savignano as guest star and Susanna Beltrami as artistic director. She is teacher of piano at “Sammartini” Music School in S. Donato Milanese, accompanist of “Città di Cantù” international competition and artistic director of “Note d’Estate” Festival in Rocca Brivio. Since 2009 she has also been president of “Pianofriends” association which she founded in Milan to organize events as: “Pianotalents” international competition in Milan, “International Piano Campus” in Varallo and Norma, “Mormorii della Foresta” and “Traimonti d’estate” Festivals.

 

ANTONIO TARALLO piano He graduated with first class honours from “Peri” music institute in Reggio Emilia with Ennio Pastorino. Later he studied with Emilia Fadini, Marek Drewnowski and Vincenzo Balzani. As recitalist he has performed widely in Italy (“Manzoni” and “Sala Verdi” in Milan, “Valli” Theatre in Reggio Emilia among the others) and abroad. He has also performed as soloist with “Syntagma Musicum” Chamber Orchestra in Switzerland and Austria and with the “Mihail Jora” Romanian  Philharmonic Orchestra in Bacau and in Milan. He has been top prize winner in many competitions such as: “Internazionale Chopin di Roma”, “Camillo Togni”, “Città di Albenga”, “Gargano”. Among his recordings: a CD containing Franco Vittadini’s holy music, a disc of Mozart’s works with the Gonfalone Chamber Orchestra and a CD live of Beethoven’s Sonatas. He is currently teacher of piano at “Bonporti” conservatory of music in Riva del Garda.
