VINCENZO BALZANI piano He graduated with first class honours from “Verdi” conservatory of music in Milan while studying with Alberto Mozzati. Aged 14, he won the La Spezia (E.N.A.L.) and the “Förster - Ricordi” national piano competitions. Two years later he was awarded the “Liszt” prize in “Maria Canals” competition in Barcelona. In 1971 he was top prize winner in many famous competitions as: “Pozzoli” in Seregno, “Città di Treviso”, “F. P. Neglia” in Enna and “G.B. Viotti” in Vercelli. As concert artist he has performed all over the world including the most prestigious Italian theatres and festivals (La Scala, San Carlo, Petruzzelli, Regio in Turin, Olimpico in Rome, Bergamo and Brescia Festival, Festival dei Due Mondi, Settembre Musica, etc.). He has also recorded extensively for the Radio and TV. Since 1973 he has been teaching piano in music academies: he is currently Professor of piano at “G. Verdi” conservatory of music in Milan. He is often invited to be juror of many international and national competitions (“G.B. Viotti”, “Rina Sala Gallo”, “Pozzoli”, “London International Piano Competition”, “Concurso Internacional Compositores de España”, “Tchaikovsky junior” in Kurashiki, “A.M.A. Calabria”, “Luciano Gante”, etc.) and to hold courses, master classes and lectures as well. In addition to his activities as pianist and teacher he is also Artistic Director of “Valsesia Musica” (up to 1999 Viotti - Valsesia), “Monterosa - KAWAI” and “Città di Cantù” International competitions.
RICCARDO BRICCHI oboe He graduated from “Nicolini” conservatory of music in Piacenza in 1979. Later he attended the “Conservatoire Superieur de Musique” in Geneva where he earned his “Virtuosité avec Médaille d’Honneur ”diploma. In the early nineties he followed Master Classes given by Hans Elhorst. He has collaborated as solo oboist and English Horn with many orchestras as:“I Pomeriggi Musicali” of Milan, Rai of Naples , “Suisse Romande” of Geneva and the orchestra of the “Teatro Massimo”(Palermo). Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Georges Prêtre, Alain Lombard, Nino Sanzogno, Daniel Oren and Efrem Kurtz have conducted his performances. Since 1985 he has been member of the “Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese” orchestra as first oboist. He has also been teacher in Frosinone and Pescara conservatories of music. He has performed as soloist and as member of chamber ensembles widely in Italy and in Europe as well. BMG - Ricordi Ariola label issued his CDs.
GABRIELE GALLOTTA flute He graduated with first class honours from “Verdi” conservatory of music in Milan in 1969 while studying with Bruno Martinotti. Then he has been member of the Milan Angelicum Chamber Orchestra. As first flute of the Gasparo da Salò Orchestra of Brescia he toured through Europe and USA as well. As member of Divertimento Ensemble chamber orchestra he performed widely in Europe and in the most prestigious Italian concert halls. In 1971 he became first flute of the Milan RAI Symphony Orchestra and since 1973 he has been teacher of flute at “Verdi” conservatory of music in Milan. Since the early eighties he has held courses and international master classes in Lanciano (Estate Musicale Frentana), Milan (Centro Asteria) and Rome (Arts Academy). Since 1981 he has collaborated with Suvini e Zerboni publishing house. Ducale, Rusty Records and Fonit Cetra labels have issued his CDs.
ANTONIO TARALLO piano He graduated with first class honours from “Peri” Music Institute in Reggio Emilia with Ennio Pastorino. Later he studied with Vincenzo Balzani. He also studied composition and conducting. Since he was 17 he has performed widely in Italy (“Manzoni” and “Sala Verdi” in Milan, “Valli” theatre in Reggio Emilia among the others). He has also performed as member of chamber ensembles and as piano soloist with the “Mihail Jora” Romanian State Philharmonic Orchestra in Bacau and in Milan. He has been top prize winner in many competitions such as: “Internazionale di Roma” , “Camillo Togni”, “Città di Albenga”, “Gargano”. As composer he wrote works for young pianists and a new method of teaching music to young children. Among his recordings, a cd containing Franco Vittadini’s holy music, a disc of Mozart’s works with the Gonfalone Chamber Orchestra and a further cd (live) of Beethoven’s sonatas. He is currently teacher of piano at “Nicolini” conservatory of music in Piacenza.
